Folks, this is going to be an amazing concert! I can’t tell you how excited the directors are about the quality of the groups that are performing.

The Choral Festival For Our Musical Life will be held at 7 PM on Saturday June 1. Tickets are available at the door $4 adults, $2 seniors and students and $10 family pass for people living at the same address (3 adults plus children). The concert is at the Gifford Elementary Theater 8332 Northwestern Ave, Racine, WI.

Teh Choir members should arrive prior to 5:30 PM on June 1 for rehearsal wearing their uniform teh shirts (coming for Thursday’s 6-8 PM rehearsal) and dark pants. Dark shoes are also preferred but not required.

Prepare yourself for great music by a variety of talented ensembles. The opening act is the band Solar Plexus, kciking off the night with power and energy.

Gifford Accent Choir will perform Lion Sleeps Tonight, Dust in the Wind, “Requiem” to raise awareness for flood victims and others. This fine ensemble sings in 2 and more parts with great expression and a lovely tone. They are the pride of Gifford Elementary, one of the two largest elementary schools in Wisconsin. Accent Choir is a guest choir at the festival.

ApplePeal, is our youngest guest choir from Red Apple Elementary. This 3rd grade auditioned choir will sing City Life, Echos of Kindness and Egy Üweg Alma, a Hungarian folk song. These fine singers have fulfilled their first year of singing in a choir and look forward to moving upward and onward! Red Apple is a STEAM School and these lucky kids get to have choir as part of their school day.

AppleChor will be performing two pieces commissioned for their choir by well known composers Greg Bartholomew of Seattle, WA and Chris Hutchings from Falkirk Scotland. Their performance includes WE Are the Dust of Stars for SA and piano and The Water Cycle for SSA choir, piano, xylophones, metalophone and rain sticks. What a rare treat to have new works written for an elementary school choir! AppleChor is a guest choir at this festival and our biggest feeder choir for our program.

Our Guest Headliner Choir is MIC SWAT Team Singers from Evanston Illinois. As a Headliner, their performance will make up a significant portion fo the show with repertoire ranging from the hilarious Undead Love Song written by their director to the hauntiingly beautiful Super Flumina Babylonis by Palestrina. We welcome this high school aged youth choir to show our singers what choir can be as they grow a little older.

Our Resident Headliner Children’s Choir of teh Internet will end the show with a unique and exciting program. The Long Song from Dr. Who, the Robot Unicorn Attack Song, Cradle by The Joy Formidable and the Pokemon Theme Song will set the standard for future OML performances. This choir auditioned by request of the producers of America’s Got Talent for Season 8 and will use the videos from this concert as the audition for Season 9.
